Transmit medical images without a VPN

Save yourself the frustration and transmit medical images without a VPN

Medical imaging sent over the Internet requires secure connectivity because it contains protected health information (PHI). Per the HIPAA Security Rule, ePHI (electronic protected health information) must be protected when handled (technically, administratively and physically). Therefore, we're constantly focus on the best and easiest methods to transmit medical imaging securely while remaining compliant.

VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) encrypt data in motion (being transmitted from point A to point B), and therefore are a tried and true means for securing medical imaging transmissions. VPNs can be laborious to setup, require scarce IT resources (Uncle Fred) and in some cases are technically impossible to provision due to customer hardware compatibility issues (or lack of hardware to facilitate VPN connectivity). Ultimately, most people have a love/hate relationship with VPNs. That's why we've found an alternative to VPNs for transmit your medical images.

An appliance (small network attached computer) is the alternative means to securing image transmissions being sent between a Purview user and our cloud. The Purview Appliance uses bank-grade encryption and secures the data in motion, without requiring a VPN tunnel! At Purview, we provide a Purview Appliance with every Purview Medical plan at no additional cost (if needed). Our Purview Appliance connects to your network, "listens" for medical imaging studies and sends those studies immediately to our cloud. The Purview Appliance is an exciting addition to our technology platform, eliminating the need for VPN connectivity, reducing implementation cost for our customers, and improving reliability.
